How to buy 3D software for Cheap. Very Cheap.

3d software

Have you ever noticed that 3D software can be ridiculously expensive? Depending on what you're using the software for (or how often you're using it) it may not be cost effective for you to spend $3,000.00 - $10,000.00.

Well for the people that can't justify paying full price for software, we may have found a loophole in the system.

Follow up:

Most of the big software companies offer 'student' or 'educational' versions. These versions also come with a considerable discount from full versions. For example, a full version of Solid Works can cost upwards of $10,000.00 (depending on configuration), but the student version retails for $2,995.00.

If you think that sounds good, we haven't even got to the loophole part yet. What if you could buy that $2,995.00 student version of Solid Works at 95.3% off?

Now it's time for the loophole part: enter JouneyEd.com, where you can buy the student version of Solid Works for $139.98.

And before you even ask, yes, there is a catch. To qualify for the discount, the person making the purchase has to be a student, educator, school, or a non-profit. That's it. As long as the person purchasing the software is one of those four things (and can prove it), he can get the discount.

Good info to know, thanks!
It looks like the Solidworks license only lasts for 12 months, which is weird. I'm not sure if that would cause problems with re-installing after 12 months and having the serial# or key failing.
It looks to me that an even better deal is Pro\Engineer Wildfire 4.0 which is available directly from PTC for only $89!
