Throughout 2006 & 2007, Industrial Shape & Form worked along with various industry leading companies to complete the construction of the monorails pictured above.

Our contributions included providing the tooling for the interiors. Tooling included the seats, backrests, panels and consoles. The tooling was constructed of wood, mdf, foam, and various composites. The tooling was then used in both thermoforming and fiberglass applications.

In addition to providing the tooling, we also provided our expertise and guidance to trim, fit, and finish the parts in the monorails.

Rapid Prototyping is defined as the automatic construction of physical objects using additive manufacturing technology. This is how the process is viewed by the vendor. The buyer on the other hand, usually just wants their product quickly. How it's made isn't always important.

With that in mind, it's important to recognize when to rely on technology to save time and money. And it's just as important to recognize when that technology will actually take more time, and cost more money.
